Job Summary

The Cybersecurity Engineer II is the gatekeeper of information within the organization.  Cybersecurity is the defense of an organization against threats that are found online.  The online landscape is critical to success for modern businesses, but it is also fraught with danger.  They are in charge of the network and systems in a security capacity.  They execute and plan security measures accordingly.  Cybersecurity Engineers help to keep attackers at bay by implementing safeguards that prevent intrusions and breaches.  They have a strong understanding of the healthcare business and a detailed understanding of healthcare technologies and assists in the development of long-term strategic vision that is used as a context for short-term tactical decisions. The Cybersecurity Engineer II will also act as an advisor for all related cybersecurity issues. This position will be focused on many aspects of information security with emphasis on data loss prevention, monitoring SIEM activities, net-gen endpoint protection, network edge protection, managed services and incident response.  He/she will help with incident response, security engineering and cyber training processes and procedures.  The Cybersecurity Engineer II must develop work habits and proper communication skills that reflect the Mission and Philosophy of Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center. Reflects the mission, philosophy, core values, and customer service plan of Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in action and attitude. All activities are directed at all departments serving all age groups.



Associates Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field required. A Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or progress towards a Bachelors degree is preferred. Certification such as CompTIA Security +, CISM, CISSP, or comparable required.

Previous technical training required. On the job training with Information Technology will be provided. The individual must adapt quickly and apply learned principles and techniques to complex situations.

Four to five years of experience as a Cybersecurity Engineer is required.  Healthcare experience preferred.  Ability to keep up with the threat landscape and have security solution and deployment experience.  Microsoft Windows experience required, Linux experience a plus.  Log aggregation and SIEM experience is preferred.  Network security experience required.  Must have experience with incident detection, incident response, and forensics.






Technical Skills:

Need skills related to access control, encryption, vulnerability and remediation, next-gen firewalls, next-gen antivirus, SIEM, endpoint detection and response, application whitelisting, password management, malware prevention, threat intelligence, mobile security, web/application/cloud security, wireless security, and social engineering tactics.




Performance Requirements

Primary Responsibilities:

- Plan, implement, monitor, and upgrade security measures.

- Troubleshoot both security and network issues.

- Respond to system and/or network security breaches.

- Ensure sensitive information and IT equipment are kept safe by implementing the correct security measures.

- Ensure the organization’s data and infrastructure are protected by enabling the appropriate security controls.

- Participate in change control operations.

- Test and identify network and system vulnerabilities.

- Administrative and communication tasks with the users of the organization regarding cybersecurity.

- Analyze risks and conduct ongoing security assessments.

- Implement solid plans of incident response.

- Outline security policies and procedures for the organization.

- Recommend further development to keep the organization in line with cybersecurity best practices.

- Awareness of cybersecurity trends and hacking techniques.

- Ensure compliance with industry standards and HIPAA Security regulations.

- Strong attention to detail with an analytical mind and outstanding problem-solving skills.

- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.


Secondary Duties:
- Assists other Information Technology caregivers with special projects.
- As needed, uses MSWord or Excel to compose memos, letters and reports.
- As required, participates in on-call rotation to assist users with emergency situations.

- Must be able to use the laptop computer to access the system remotely and assess/solve the situation.
- Periodically attends classes, seminars or on-site training to maintain or enhance currently needed skills.
- As required, works weekends for project implementation.

Physical Demands:
Moderate physical effort is required. The incumbent could possibly lift up to a 50 pound piece of equipment. The incumbent may be required to sit for an extended period of time. Consistent operation of a computer will be required.

Special Demands:
Although the position is for day shift, it requires infrequent odd hours. It also will require being on-call.  Workload will be varied and irregular in nature, must be able to manage multiple projects at one time. Reflects the mission, philosophy, core values, and customer service plan of Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in action and attitude.
