Job Description

Job Summary:
The Employee Relations Manager will oversee all employee services and employee relations for the McComb site.  Services will include payroll and benefits administration, benefits orientation and open enrollment process, leave administration, employee events, annual culture survey process, Leader Activity Program, employee recognition programs, new hire and termination process.  Employee Relations responsibilities include the employee complaint process, investigations, termination reviews and accommodation requests and reviews, policy deployment and administration, training programs (HFS University, Skillsoft, Tuition Reimbursements and Team Lead Programs); HR compliance (Background Checks, I-9s, Drug Testing, Records Retention; Salary recruitment process (sourcing and attracting candidates, interview process); assisting with annual performance management process, promotions and transfers of salary employees and handling of EIPs. 

 

Job Duties :

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Ensure expectations are communicated to direct reports in a timely manner; provide career and position development as needed, as well as implement appropriate coaching, counseling and progressive discipline as needed. Conduct annual performance evaluations and provide performance feedback to team on an on-going basis. Oversee Payroll and Benefits Administrator and assigned job responsibilities to include hourly and salary payroll processing, the EAF (Employee Action Form) process, leave administration (FMLA, Bereavement, Jury Duty, STD, personal leaves and vacations and holidays); and benefits orientation for new hires. Lead the understanding, communication and training for the annual benefits open enrollment process. Lead the learning, communication and training of the annual employee opinion survey process. Oversee and ensure HR compliance related to background checks, I-9s, and drug testing and records retention; ensure ECR team is up-to-date and complying with all regulatory requirements. Oversee the coordination, implementation and communication of all employee events to include the site Leader Activity Program, service awards, retirement celebrations, etc.; participate on Wellness Program Team and assist with Wellness Program events. Oversee and track all recognition programs to include the selection of Coin Recognition winners, site program recognition, gift-card tracking and reporting. Manage employee relations activities through effective management and communication. Partner with site functional leaders to develop and apply consistent employee relations approach. Respond to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and Standards of Conduct by evaluating or recommending the initiation of investigative procedures; develop and oversee a system for uniform handling of such violations. Provide consultative support, advice and solutions on all people related subjects. Identify potential areas of vulnerability and risk; develop/implement corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues, and provide general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future. Provide reports on a regular basis, and as directed or requested, to keep the business informed of problematic/high risk locations or work groups. Oversee site training programs to include the communication and tracking of HFS University classes, Skillsoft, DeVry University and any tuition reimbursement arrangements, and assistance with team lead development programs. Provide assistance with the salary recruitment process to include sourcing and attracting candidates, interviewing, the offer process and onboarding process. Provide assistance with the annual performance management process and the development and issuance of Employee Improvement Plans (EIPs); Provide assistance with salary promotions, transfers and the overall talent management process.

 

 

Required Competencies & Knowledge :

 

Knowledge of:  

  Human Resources principles and practices, including HRIS/payroll systems Strong leadership experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting.

 

Skill in:  Employee relations, including conflict resolution, performance management, employee coaching and investigations. Motivating and leading staff and developing world class talent. Effectively communicating both verbally and in writing. Comprehensive knowledge of employment laws and regulations, including but not limited to Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, Executive Order 11246, VEVRAA, Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, FCRA, NLRA, OSHA, FLSA, and WARN. Analysis of data/problems and the ability to identify solutions. Conflict Management. Time management. Possess strong financial acumen. Exercising judgment and making sound decisions.

Proficiency in :    MS Office Suite and Kronos; Ceridian Dayforce experience a plus

 

Work Environment : Work is primarily done in an office setting. Daily production environment exposure which includes noise, dust, moving machinery, fork lifts, and fluctuations in temperature.

 

Physical Requirements : Sitting at a work station for extended periods of time Stand, walk, climb stairs on a regular basis Must be able to lift 20 pounds on an infrequent basis.

 

Minimum Qualifications :

  Undergraduate degree in a related business field required or equivalent work experience; MBA is a plus. 3 to 5+ years HR experience as a generalist in a high-performance ISO or world class manufacturing environment. PHR or SPHR certification preferred. Experience with Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing is a plus. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
