Job Description

An internship with the National MS Society is a form of experiential learning that integrates knowledge and theory learned in the classroom with practical application and skills development in a professional setting.

The National MS Society is offering an exciting internship with a Volunteer Engagement department focust. This internship can provide school credit and offers valuable experience in the non-profit, engagement, relationship management, and event planning industries. Candidates must have excellent customer service skills, be self-motivated, a team player, results-oriented, and dedicated to making a difference in the lives of people living with and affected by MS.

Intern(s) will assist with the execution of all Volunteer Engagement functions. These tasks will include volunteer outreach, recruitment, communications, cultivation, and recognition for 2022 Spring Walk MS events and Bike MS Events and will also include administrative, database management, and event production activities.

What You Will Do:

Each day this intern will work closely with the Volunteer Engagement Specialists in developing outreach lists and cultivating new volunteer group and individual recruitment, contacting prior volunteers, setting up and fulfilling maintenance on Galaxy Digital pages, continuously updating, and maintaining DWUI, help to prepare volunteer manuals and rosters and assisting with in-kind sponsorships related to volunteer engagement. Learning Objectives

Intern(s) will receive a thorough overview of non-profit volunteer engagement work, most specifically related to fundraising events. Gain relevant work experience in non-profit volunteer engagement field (50%) Gain experience working within a team and committee environment (25%) Opportunity to learn about multiple sclerosis and work with the leading national organization supporting people impacted by MS (25%)
What You Will Bring: Currently pursuing a degree as a Junior or Senior in Undergrad or any year in Graduate School Open to all majors with a preference for the following: Communications, Public Health, Non-Profit Management Ability to work 12 weeks (flexible), 12-20 hours (flexible) per week for a maximum of 180 hours during the course of the internship Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite Familiar with Outlook Outgoing, comfortable on the phone, a team player Access to a computer and webcam If you do not have access to a computer with capability to video conference, one will be provided in office, or loaned to you for the duration of the internship and returned to the Society at completion of internship.   What We Will Offer:

This is an in office paid internship available for Spring 2022. The hourly rate is $15. If you are unable to be paid for this internship due to outside funding or other directives from your educational institution -- please let your hiring manager know AFTER you have been identified as the final candidate.

All internship offers are contingent upon the candidate showing proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (with a COVID-19 FDA-approved vaccine or a COVID-19 vaccine granted Emergency Use Authorization) by the start date of the internship. A candidate is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving the second dose of a two-dose vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) or one dose of a single dose vaccine (Johnson & Johnson/Janssen) or as defined by the Center for Disease Control.
