Position Function and Scope:

The Innovation Manager, Meals Business Unit, is an exciting opportunity for a passionate, innovative leader who deeply understands and values the key role consumer insights play in unlocking future innovation that will drive business growth.  In this role, the Innovation Manager will be responsible for driving complex new platform, product and/or channel initiatives from concept to launch, balancing consumer insights, category opportunities, business goals and technical feasibility. This individual will be responsible for identifying and evaluating new growth opportunities via qualitative and quantitative insights and then partnering with cross-functional leaders to bring innovation to market through Del Monte’s stage-gate commercialization process.

 

Responsibilities:

With Innovation Director, create long-and-short term innovation strategies and roadmap that will deliver top and bottom-line growth to the Meals Business Unit. Innovation Strategy/Pipeline Development Identify new multi-year platforms that address a consumer need, category opportunity, business objective and operational feasibility. Leverage research (historical, secondary) and insights (consumer and supplier research, trends) to identify unmet consumer needs. Analyze syndicated market data to assess competitive environment and category gap opportunities. Conduct empathy research and ideation sessions to garner insights and idea creation Perform affinity mapping, platform development, concept testing and opportunity sizing Present innovation to key customers, securing early feedback and buy-in to upcoming launches Trends tracking Lead Cross Functional Team in Commercialization of Key Initiatives Lead cross-functional teams through stage-gate commercialization progress to meet initial goals & timelines Create forecast and multi-year volume builds Work with Finance to vet unit economics and key financial metrics to hurdle internal benchmarks Determine go-to-market strategy, create launch materials, and attend key Buyer pitch meetings Provide continuity and support to Brand Marketing team as they take responsibility of new product innovation post launch Build a Culture of Innovation Elevate visibility and role of innovation across the organization Build organizational understanding of what, when and how new products move through the innovation pipeline while embedding innovation tools (ie design thinking, agility) to the organization culture. Be an innovation thought leader that can align our leadership team and inspire them on our future Get organization excited about the innovation function and what we are bringing to consumers

Qualifications: BS/BA required, MBA in Marketing or related field preferred CPG experience in Food and/or Beverage required, experience with Natural Products industry a plus Possesses a strong passion for Innovation and a unique combination of soft skills (highly creative, curious, close to rapidly changing trends) and hard skills (general mgt orientation, highly strategic, financially sound) that define successful Innovation leaders. 4-7 years’ experience in innovation and marketing, with the following specialization: Team facilitation and innovation project leadership Broad-based cross-functional experience Possesses a strong passion for Innovation and a unique combination of right brain (highly creative, curious, close to rapidly changing trends) and left brain (general mgt orientation, highly strategic, financially sound) that define successful Innovation leaders. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills Strategic acumen – proven ability to inspire others with a clear vision Strong stage-gate cross-functional project management skills Exceptional analytical skills. Experience using syndicated data (Nielsen, IRI, SPINs) P&L understanding and budget management experience Cross-functional experience working with R&D, Procurement, Regulatory, Quality Assurance, Co-Manufacturing, Finance, Sales, Category Management, Market Research and Brand teams. Experience with primary research methodologies, consumer insights and trends tracking
