Job Description

The people that carry out this rewarding, care giving support play an integral and crucial role in the success of our organization.

The Job Coach will provide support to adults with developmental disabilities in competitive work settings, as well as be a supplemental trainer to both the employer and client. He/she provides appropriate programming based upon the clients goals and objectives.

Duties: Teach skills necessary for client to meet or exceed performance expectations Use creative thinking and independent problem-solving skills Establish and maintain employer relationships and facilitate the building of natural supports at the workplace Prepare analysis of work environment, requirements and specific job analysis Maintain regular and positive relationships and communication with clients, Vocational Rehab counselors, families, employers and other professionals Learn the business' culture and effectively communicate to the client and continually identify and develop a plan to reduce on-site support Assist clients in understanding the value of their job Use of appropriate teaching techniques that result in client performing the task independent of staff support. Communicate with stakeholders regarding the variety of services offered by Easter Seals Midwest and the process for obtaining additional services and/or resources Identify assistive technology or accommodations needed and support clients in obtaining the resources necessary Facilitate ISP and teach methodologies which reflect client goals Accurately, complete Log Notes and report on objectives which reflect progress on goals Ensure retention clients and employer needs are met by visiting all worksites a minimum of once per month

A successful candidate will possess: Good communication skills and computer knowledge. Ability to work independently and without daily direct supervision. Ability to receive constructive feedback from supervisor(s) and apply necessary actions. Problem solving skills and ability to effectively multi-task.

Qualifications: Education: High school diploma. Bachelor's degree in human services or related field preferred. Experience: Experience working with people with developmental disabilities is helpful but not a must. Other: Must obtain Missouri Class E or Illinois license and have current vehicle insurance and reliable vehicle. Must be willing to accept and learn from training provided.
