Job Description

The Manager of Business Intelligence is an experienced leader who is responsible for managing data engineering teams to deliver continuous streams of on-time and quality projects while sustaining daily technical operations. This role will oversee the requirements gathering, planning, designing, configuring/developing, testing and deploying of small to large and complex business intelligence and analytics solutions in support of the business objectives. This leader has broad experience in delivering projects in waterfall and agile scrum & Kanban methods and becomes an influencer for adopting these processes across the IT organization. This leader is adept in the modern trends of analytics including on-premise and cloud platforms, data architecture, data lake, ETL/ELT, data virtualization, data warehouse design, reporting and dashboards. This role understands integration across multiple platforms (e.g. Oracle JDEdwards, Oracle Engagement Cloud, RFGen, HubSpot, Snowflake, Cognos, PowerBI, etc.). Will be responsible for creating and maintaining framework driven development standards with proper catalog documentation of data assets and business glossaries. The leader has the ability to establish the regional data engineering, reporting and analytics Center of Excellence.



The Manager of Business Intelligence acts as the primary liaison and point of contact across all supported business companies (WP’s) in the Americas region that utilize the BI/Analytics shared services organization and is able to effectively manage requests thru the lifecycle while maintaining communication with the requestors. This leadership position is responsible to execute the data platform strategy, combined with a scalable BI/ETL architecture that reduces overhead and time to delivery. A thorough demand intake, requirements management and analysis process that results in multi-use solutions is expected from this role. This role is responsible for managing staff, including mentoring and development, setting priorities, coordinating activities, goal setting and skill development along with hiring and assigning appropriate permanent and/or contract staff as resources to projects adhering to internal processes and procedures that align with business needs. This role keeps aligned with global and regional stakeholders while maintaining commitments to SLA’s and organizational policies. Ensures on call 24/7 coverage for all critical BI and Analytics services. Develops, maintains, and communicates project plans and schedules, prioritizes requirements, and coordinates human and financial resources. 



RESPONSIBILITIES: Scope of the responsibilities is inclusive of all Omron entities within the Americas under our IT Shared Services Organization: Ensure project schedule and delivered functionality are in line with the business needs and are delivered at optimum cost while also shaping the future IT ecosystem that enables the organization to deliver on its data and digital journeys  Ensure IT BI/Analytics process disciplines (solution delivery, project management, work requests, QA, etc.) and standards are established, effectively managed and well performed. Foster a culture of improving accuracy of capturing business requirements, quality of service solutions and agile delivery  Leading teams responsible for BI/Analytics and manage joint engagement with a virtual team of IT experts in the WP’s to ensure optimal delivery and support of the portfolio of solutions Continuously striving for more efficient system utilization and business process optimization Provide information and periodic updates to support overall IT performance metrics, weekly project status reporting and quarterly resource planning review Manages multiple teams of vendors and developers involved in the analysis, design and development of complex and large scale BI/Analytics solutions, which may include projects, programs and operations Accountable for gaining and maintaining alignment of delivery success criteria with business partners Bring IT innovation and functional expertise to support and jointly contribute to Omron Americas data strategy and roadmap. This includes the ETL development standards, BI semantic layers, Data Vault and Reporting and Analytics tools Responsible to establish a business data steward program to manage self-service capabilities and define procedures to adhere to governance and controls Accountable for effective project management and delivery of work requests and projects (agile or waterfall) within committed budget, schedule and quality for individual projects while also meeting overall department performance goals Accountable for identifying needs, securing commitments and monitoring progress of deliverables from internal and external service provider teams Work closely with the business users to understand their BI/Analytics needs and further standardize best practices across the company, inclusive of data security and regional and global privacy regulations Establish and maintain strong business relationships with both senior and operating level business leaders Manage IT BI/Analytics platforms implementations, additions of new functionality and upgrades to support the BI Strategic initiatives Establish strong relations and partnerships with major applications vendors such as Oracle, IBM, Dell, Microsoft among others and work with them in maximizing Omron’s investment in investing in their business technologies and solutions. Ensure contract compliance by vendors and monitor vendor performance Promote and support IT policies and procedures within the group Make recommendations to the individual entities to ensure the achievement of the quality, cost, and delivery criterion of the corporation To work with other IT groups and leaders to ensure a coherent and unified approach to the planning and development and delivery of the long term Information Technology and the BI Data Strategy Helps establish a Financial Planning and Analytics strategy for best practices, tools assessment (like TM1, Hyperion, others) Establish a team where partners and internal staff operate as a seamless team and are passionate and committed to delivering an exceptional service Recruiting, coaching, developing and motivating employees within own area of responsibility and creating a work environment that motivates and allows to retain key personnel required to deliver value adding and innovative IT BI/Analytics services across the business
Other duties and miscellaneous projects as needed



EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelors or Master’s degree in business and/or technical field;



Experience: Experienced (5 years +) in managing delivery and operations teams in charge of the design, development, delivery and support of modern IT Business intelligence/Analytics platforms in a multi-business, multi country context Experienced (5 years +) as IT / technology strategic lead or senior IT architect in the field of business intelligence, big data, data lakes, data warehouse, ETL/ELT and analytics
