Location: Elmira, Michigan
Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in repairing and relining ladles. Also, will monitor the melt deck and assist with charging, operating, and tapping furnaces by performing the following duties. Heads up the operation of the assigned shift safely, efficiently, and effectively. Must know or learn how to adjust furnace chemistries, and work with other department supervisors to achieve the company goal.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Examines materials and products at various stages of processing for conformance to specifications. Observes machines and equipment for malfunction and orders adjustments or repairs or directs workers to make adjustments or repairs. Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment. Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations. Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules. Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew. Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems. Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals. Maintains time and production records. Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials. Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments. Promotes safety awareness, accident prevention, and employee involvement with regard to a safe work environment. Ensures employees understand the safety expectations of the organization. Promotes the company culture, the mission and vision, and the core values of the company.
Supervise two overlapping shifts of 3 employees each in the Melt Department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree or equivalent; and four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
