Job Description

Mobile Robotics Systems Engineer:

Develop and test cutting-edge technology in a fast paced and fun environment.

About Us:

Omron Robotics and Safety Technologies, Inc. (ORT) develops social-needs driven solutions for the automation market. We combine advanced sensing and functional-safety technologies to eliminate hazards faced by people in dull, dirty, or dangerous environments.

We develop new electronics, mechanics and software for an exceptionally broad spectrum of robots – including autonomous mobile robots, articulated robots, parallel link robots, and more. Our product development teams have a passion for innovation, and a track record of developing successful products for the global market.

About the Job:

We are looking for a creative and driven engineer to help us develop new autonomous mobile robotic technology.

At ORT our engineers have all the benefits of being backed by the global presence of the Omron Corporation, while maintaining the entrepreneurial spirit usually reserved for smaller companies. Here you’ll be more than just a cog in a big corporate machine, you’ll play a crucial role in the process of taking new products from idea to global launch. Along the way you’ll be able to see how your contributions have led to a more valuable and robust solution.

Come learn from a talented engineering team and work alongside project managers, software developers, mechanical and electrical engineers and quality engineers to ensure that we produce the right products for our customers’ needs.

You’ll create and execute the verification tests that prove our products will deliver as promised. That means writing software to automate tests, and getting your hands dirty building and debugging prototypes, fixtures, and tools to enable product development and testing. You’ll generate and evaluate new ideas and innovations to improve our technology and our users’ experience. The broad knowledge and expertise that comes with this role makes the ORT systems engineer a valuable team-member across all engineering disciplines.

Specific Duties: Contribute to the specification, prototyping, and testing of new technology. Write and execute Design Verification Tests (DVT) for industrial mobile robots, their controllers, sensors, peripheral devices, and the software that defines their behavior. Clearly and concisely report and present your work and recommendations.

About the Area:

The freshly-renovated and comfortable office is located in the clean and safe rural-suburban town of Amherst, New Hampshire. We’re about 20 minutes from Manchester and Nashua, New Hampshire’s two biggest cities. You’ll have all the excitement of Boston about an hour to our south, and less than two hours’ drive north puts you in New Hampshire’s beautiful White Mountains.

Job Level:

Intermediate

Education/Experience: MS or BS, Engineering with 0-5 years relevant experience

Special Requirements: Experience with mobile robotics, path-planning and localization concepts Highly proficient in programming with at least one common language Electro-mechanical knowledge pertaining to mobile robots Outstanding verbal and written communications Strong organizational skills Analytical skills to diagnose issues, collect data, and organize data for further review with engineers Proven ability to work within cross-functional teams Hardware debugging and test experience Ability to setup and use lab test equipment Comfortable with Linux OS Experience with ROS Experience with sensor-guided robotic arms a plus
