Job Description

Position Summary:

Directs the activities of the Poker room ensuring compliance with state regulations and internal controls, while maintaining a strong culture of guest service and satisfaction. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for all poker functions including the inventory of poker equipment and cards. Responsible for live and tournament poker operation of the casino. Safeguarding company assets located within the poker department. Ability to hire, train, coach, mentor and develop poker room Team Members. Knowing, understanding and complying with established Company and departmental policies and procedures. Directly supervises the operation, conduct and game security of a specified number of various types of poker games. Works in conjunction with the Vice President of Table Games in forecasting and financial analysis of the poker department. Uses analysis and game trends to plan and manage business growth. Designs and institutes poker departmental policies and procedures. Prepares budget and manages poker department to maximize revenues and control expenses.  Being proficient and accurate in all job duties and taking advantage of opportunities to improve your job knowledge and performance. Ensures compliance with all regulatory controls both internal and external including but not limited to state and federal labor laws and the IGB regulations and guidelines.. Coordinates Poker Supervisors’ and/or Poker Dealers’ schedules to ensure appropriate staffing within Poker Room or assigned games. Responsible for fills and credits required during the operation of supervised games. Oversees Poker Supervisors and/or Poker Dealers and carries out supervisory responsibilities; in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. May train Team Members; plans and assigns work area; appraises performance; initiates Team Member commendations and coaching, addresses and resolves customer and/or team member concerns and complaints. Promotes positive public/team member relations at all times. Performing other duties as requested or assigned. Perform the duties and responsibilities associated with the Illinois Gaming Board Statewide Voluntary Self-Exclusion Program as described in Section A of the Rivers Casino – Des Plaines ICS.
Qualifications: (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities): Three-four years as a poker room supervisor or manager in a licensed casino. Knowledge of poker procedures, game protection, regulations and training requirements required..    Knowledge of  all approved poker games and tournaments required. Must have strong leadership skills with a clear focus on guest service and Team Member relations. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to staff or customers and other Team Members of the organization. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations Ability to communicate with Team members and guests Ability to successfully fulfill the pre-employment process Ability to work flexible shifts and days of the week including holidays Ability to obtain and maintain all necessary licensing.

 

Physical and Mental Demands Regularly required to stand for extended periods of time, see, walk, talk and hear; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.  Must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.   Must be able to identify colors. Able to work with others while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.
