The Senior Paralegal/Privacy Analyst will be a member of BCD Travel’s legal department reporting to the Data Protection Officer.The primary goal is to serve as the main contact on privacy matters for BCD Meetings & Events and to work on other projects for the privacy function of BCD Travel’s Legal Department, working with lawyers within the department as well as internal and external customers. The position will involve interactions with all levels within the company.
A snapshot of this opportunity Advise colleagues in BCD Meetings & Events, the Global Legal Team, and internal clients with respect to all matters pertaining to data protection and privacy in order to promote compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Supporting role in the implementation of the company’s data protection compliance initiatives including training of relevant staff Supporting the implementation of the company’s Binding Corporate Rules Advise based on privacy policies, procedures and strategies Advise on privacy and data security issues related to new products and services Contract review, drafting and negotiations with internal and external customers, suppliers, service providers or partners, from a data protection and privacy perspective Provide guidance and support to relevant staff in different units in inspections, audits and data privacy incidents Support relevant staff in the performance of data privacy risk assessments and monitor of internal controls, together with regional and global relevant functions such as HR, Internal Audit, IT Security Monitor changes in law or regulations, trends, discussions and best business practices related to data protection and privacy and communicate internally, proposing risk mitigation strategies and changes to our policies and guidelines accordingly Familiarity with One Trust or comparable privacy platform
How you can set yourself apart Relevant privacy certification e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM or equivalent is a plus 4+ years experience advising on data protection and privacy laws, including in depth understanding of the GDPR Preferable experience in working with data protection authorities or acting as DPO Integrity and high standard professional ethics Strong intercultural skills and ability bridging cultural differences Ability to translate the legal data protection obligations in the context of the services the company provides Excellent organizational skills Preferable experience in managing the implementation of compliance initiatives Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, including ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, data subjects, data protection authorities and other controllers and processors Affinity with IT products and services Excellent command of English
