Reporting to the SVP (Dehydrated Portfolio), The Product Manager will be responsible for leading the strategy development and financial management of Parsley as well as other dehydrated vegetables. This position will also be responsible for special projects as needed by the business. The Product Manager will work with cross functional teams, including sales and operations, to increase market share, develop new products, and ensure profitability of the portfolio. This position is responsible for setting the annual budget and meeting all volume and profitability targets for the Parsley product line. The ideal candidate should have an entrepreneurial mindset to grow the existing business and expand the size of the Olam Spices portfolio.
Position Responsibilities Work with Product Management leadership team to develop the global business strategy for the Dehydrated Vegetables BU (parsley, other dehydrated vegetables, Onion and Garlic) with inputs from Manufacturing Operations (MATS) / Ag Operations / Sales and other functional teams. Track and update the global supply/ demand balance sheet for the products to guide operational sales, crop planning and business strategy. Track and manage global product price position risk and inventories to maximize margins and keep exposures within agreed norms developed for the Business Unit (BU). Conduct regular business environment scans to determine the potential impact of macro-economic, climate, technological, political variables on the business. Track industry dynamics and competitive activity to keep tabs in pricing changes, new entrants, threat from substitutes. Track changes in buyer and supplier behavior to determine potential impact on the business and take suitable action to harness opportunities and meet challenges. Develop predictive analytical models to forecast projected volume offtake of parsley, dehydrated onion and garlic by SKU, customer, micro bucket, and by market segment. Develop predictive pricing models for and test out different pricing model hypotheses for different market conditions. Develop predictive demand forecast for each season by pack size. Track slow moving and tight SKUs to enable appropriate follow up by the sales team to modify buyer behavior. Work with members of the regional sales teams and Product Management leadership to develop annual sales plans. Development of plans will include secure strategic objectives for each customer and appropriate pricing and rebate structure by customer. Provide market and pricing updates based on global environment and competitor scans and product S&D analysis to guide sales effort. Work with Sales/ tech Service and Ag teams to assist in new customer and market development. Conduct feasibility and development of new products, line-extensions, margin enhancement, and cost-reduction initiatives. Provide inputs for crop and production planning for subsequent seasons. Work with Product Management leadership, Sales, IQ, Ops and Ag teams to assist in conducting targeted market research projects for specific market segments to target new growth opportunities, products for withdrawal and other supply chain projects. Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements Bachelor's degree is required. Majors in Business Administration, Food Science or Engineering is preferred. Five (5) years Product Line experience will be considered in lieu of degree. Five (5) years previous work experience in product/brand management, sales/ business development is required. Candidates who substituted experience in lieu of degree, must have a minimum of ten (10) years of experience. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and interpersonal skills to effectively work with external customers and colleagues at Olam is required. Ability to communicate effectively with Leadership is required. Ability to work with multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment is required. Demonstrated analytic and problem-solving capabilities are required. Ability to draw conclusions and provide business insight from working with multiple sets of data as well as when there are significant data gaps will be required. Experience working with both internal and external sources of supply is required. Strong computer skills are required. Previous experience working with Microsoft office and SAP is preferred. Ability and willingness to travel 20%-40% (post-COVID) is required.
