Resident Activities Assistant

United Church Homes, Inc. is seeking a Resident Activities Assistant to join our team! This position is responsible for assisting in the planning, organizing and implementing a program of therapeutic activities designed to meet the social, spiritual, intellectual, emotional, educational and physical needs and interests of residents in accordance with the comprehensive resident care plan.   Essential Functions Include
Assists in the development/delivery of therapeutic recreational services to promote the residents' opportunities for engaging in normal life enhancement pursuits and to increase and/or maintain functioning levels Maintains precautions/limitation list on each resident Encourages resident participation in group and individual activities including arts/crafts, community outings, religious, intellectual/educational, community/center service and recreational activities, etc. Completes activities documentation, as assigned Documents resident participation or refusal of activity services offered Implements activity programs Maintains confidentiality of necessary information Handles unusual occurrences calmly and logically to maintain continuity of business and duties Follows all appropriate safety and security guidelines, procedures and protocol for residents in the Special Care Unit Qualifications High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Preferred Six (6) months to one (1) year of related experience preferred; Previous experience in leading recreational activities, arts/crafts, intellectual/educational activities, community outings, etc, desired Computer Skills: Must be able to proficiently use a computer, the Internet and basic office equipment Must possess a valid driver's license; Must obtain and maintain mandatory, state, federal requirements and certifications for practice or occupation
