Job Description

Robotics Application Engineer

Omron Automation - Americas is looking for an energetic and focused Robotics Application Engineer in LA California. The Robotics Application Engineer will provide support to Sales team members (primarily the Robotics Sales Specialist where applicable) to identify and recommend specific customer application solutions in the field of robotics and help grow revenues. This position will serve as the "Robotics Technical Expert" for the regional sales team.

Responsibilities : Sales professionals will call on this individual to engage on specific customer opportunities to identify solvable applications, recommend and demo a solution, and help close the sale. Perform customer feasibility studies with actual and simulated systems that illustrate both proof of concept for customer applications as well as the ease of use and flexibility of Omron robotic equipment and software. Such feasibility studies include interaction of multiple robots and determination of required robotic fleet size, and the most efficient operating parameters. Demonstrate broad knowledge and experience across mechanical, electrical, and software engineering, and should be comfortable both working alongside design engineering, and helping to guide customers as they seek to incorporate fixed and mobile robotic technologies into their automation plans. Provide feedback to Engineering on our products such as reporting bugs/issues, making suggestions for enhancements or new products. Complete studies that involve design of simple machine fixtures and tooling. At the completion of the study, written reports summarizing the findings and videos documenting the testing performed must also be produced. Development of technical materials and tools to support development of channel partners, sales/support staffs, and major customers. Provide technical support to customers when needed. Provide a commitment to internal & external customer service. Represent Omron in a professional, ethical, and socially responsible manner. Represents the Omron Guiding Principles through personal and business interactions with employees, customers, distributors, and colleagues.

Requirements: Bachelor of Science, Electrical, or Mechanical in Engineering from a four year college or related technical school. Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of demonstrated application solutions sales experience with OEM and End User customers. Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of engineering experience in Robotics focused on the industrial market segment. Knowledge of automation products involving Safety, Servo and Motion control, PLCs, etc. Knowledge of communications platforms: Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, motion bus networks, DeviceNet, etc. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to display leadership characteristics and able to motivate other individuals. Ability to share detailed technical information in an easy to understand manner working in a consultative manner with customers. Energetic, aggressive, focused and a highly motivated self-starter. Strong relationship builder and a strong personal desire to win. Ability to multi-task and work cross-functionally with strong organizational skills. Team player mentality but able to work independently as required. Strong interpersonal, listening, questioning and communication skills (written and oral). Approximately 25% to 50% travel.
