Olam Food Ingredients ( OFI ) is a new entity born out of Olam International . In a re-organization announced in January of this year, OFI builds on the 30-year history of Olam and is planned for a carve out and potential IPO in 2021. OFI offers sustainable, natural, value-added food products and ingredients so that consumers can enjoy the healthy and indulgent products they love. It consists of Olam’s industry-leading businesses of Cocoa, Coffee, Edible Nuts, Spices and Dairy. OFI has built a unique global value chain presence including its own farms, farm-gate origination and manufacturing facilities. OFI partners with customers, leveraging its complementary & differentiated portfolio of “on-trend” food products, to co-create solutions that anticipate and meet changing consumer preferences as demand increases for healthier food that’s traceable & sustainable.
Reporting to VP Sales-Edible Nuts the Sales Manager will be responsible for acquiring and building new business while m aintaining current business within assigned categories. This role will hold responsibility for leading contract negotiations with customers, growing business by building new opportunities, and defending against competitive threats. They will work with internal resources to further develop relationships with key accounts and build a competitive advantage with our customers through the strategic use of business-specific resources.
The ideal candidate will have business development and “hunter” mentality. They should find excitement from finding and closing new business.
Create, develop and execute account strategies, plans, and forecasts for assigned accounts and customers. Develop and implement strategies for acquiring new accounts. Develop long-term partnerships with targeted accounts that result in increased sales and margins. Establish working relationships with strategic account's middle and senior management that have decision-making influence. Execute channel sales strategy to assure strategic alignment with the business' overarching strategic plan. Work with technical, operations, and culinary personnel to assure alignment of sales strategy and product offerings with technical and operational capabilities. Track and manage warehouse inventory. Conduct periodic aging analysis and ensure rotation/timely liquidation of stocks. Work closely with logistics and support staff to ensure excellence in contract execution, inventory management, stock aging, rejections, debtors, and vendor payables. Engage the Olam network (e.g., cross-functional team members/critical functional resources) to execute business plans, resolve issues, and deliver solutions that meet or exceed customer needs and drive profitable growth. Perform other duties as assigned.
A high school diploma is required, Bachelor's degree is preferred. Five (5) years of experience in the day-to-day management of large, complex food processing, manufacturing, or foodservice national accounts are required. Demonstrated experience in the industrial food ingredients market is preferred. Prior Account Management is preferred. Culinary or food technical experience is preferred. Business-to-business sales experience is required. The ideal candidate will have strong general business capabilities and profit and loss management experience. Strong analytical and technical skills are required. Strong self-initiative with the ability to operate at a high level with minimum supervision is required. Excellent communication, both verbal and written, and interpersonal skills are required. Experience managing relationships with customers and internal stakeholders is required. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and foster trusting relationships across geographies, is required. Ability and willingness to travel up to 35% of the time (post-COVID).
