Job Description

Swedish Match North America LLC, a consumer-packaged goods producer (CPG) and market leader of cigars and a broad assortment of smokeless tobacco products is currently seeking a Senior Analyst in Richmond, VA.

 

This position is responsible for the accuracy of various aspects of corporate accounting activity including costs primarily related to benefits, division administration, and sales force management.  This position is also responsible for certain key corporate balance sheet accounts related to employee incentive accruals, defined benefit obligation accruals, and other employee benefits.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

Administration Expense: Provide preliminary details of administrative expenses for executive management review. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-to-date analysis of actual administration expenses compared to both budget and prior year balances. Ensure administrative expenses are properly stated during each accounting period. Prepare and post monthly allocation journal entry for administration expenses. Prepare allocation of annual budget for administration expenses. Serve as the Business Control department liaison to various department heads with administrative budget responsibility.

 

Sales Force Management Expense: Provide preliminary details of sales force management expenses for executive management review. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-to-date analysis of actual sales force management expenses compared to both budget and prior year balances. Ensure sales force management expenses are properly stated during each accounting period. Prepare and post monthly allocation journal entry for sales force management expenses. Prepare allocation of annual budget for sales force management expenses. Serve as the Business Control department liaison to the Manager, Sales Support in the preparation and reporting of monthly sales incentive accruals for actuals, forecast and annual budget for sales force management expenses.

 

Benefits Accounting : Review payroll data files from ADP and transmit journal entries to the general ledger for all relevant legal entities. Prepare general ledger account reconciliations and journal entries for payroll and benefit-related accounts as assigned. Prepare annual forecast and budget for benefit costs and all personnel-related expenses. Assist Controller in the preparation of the annual profit-sharing and incentive calculations in accordance with plan documents. Review and analyze monthly trustee statements for 401K and pension trusts. Review and analyze monthly/quarterly statements for company owned life insurance policies. Gather data for analysis for monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting for HFM. Serve as the Business Control liaison to our outside actuarial firm regarding actuarial valuations and disclosures under International Accounting Standards 19 (pension, retirement, medical retirement, etc.). Work directly with Human Resources-Benefits on all incentive and defined benefits plans. Coordinate quarterly and year-end tasks required for reporting to Corporate Control.

Other Corporate Accounting Responsibilities: Prepare analysis for monthly CFO Book. Prepare required schedules and support for external auditors. Review travel and purchase card expense data files received from Concur and transmit journal entries to the general ledger for all relevant legal entities. Other: Coordination with Corporate Control and other Corporate HQ departments as required. Perform special projects as may be assigned by the Accounting Manager. Perform special projects as may be assigned by the Controller or Chief Financial Officer.
EDUCATION:     
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required.  Some public accounting experience and/or CPA desired. 

 

EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 8 - 10 years of experience is required.  

 

SKILLS:
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Effective time management skills. Strong analytical skills. Must be able to manage multiple projects effectively.
