Leads the design and implementation of network infrastructure to meet the multifaceted needs of the business units. Mastery of all aspects of the LAN/WAN including business critical ICS/SCADA infrastructure. Spearheads team that maintains operational excellence and high availability of an enterprise network infrastructure that supports user, server, data center, and cloud technologies. Provides subject matter expertise and recommendations on complex networking and IT projects/tasks. Utilizes experience, industry best practices, and judgment to plan, implement, and automate technical solutions to meet the most difficult needs of the business. Mentors junior level Network Engineers and works well in a high-pressure environment.
Duties and Responsibilities Monitors, maintains, and supports business and ICS/SCADA network environments for enterprise network operations. Designs, installs, configures, and documents complicated network systems. Contacts and coordinates vendor, carrier, and remote support when necessary to resolve high impact network issues and/or outages. Plans, designs, tests, and implements technical solutions for multiple concurrent and multifaceted projects, either individually or as a member of a project team. Performs expert technical analysis of software, hardware, and network systems. Maintains and operates network monitoring and diagnostic equipment for capacity planning, maintenance and diagnostic purposes. Communicates technical information in a clear and concise manner. Performs diagnostic tests, notes symptoms, and gathers relevant problem/malfunction facts and data from users. Provides technical leadership and mentorship for Network Engineers. Provides immediate feedback to Project Managers and Managers on the health and well-being of the network. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Experience Minimum of 5 years of experience working on a Cisco-based network is required. Minimum of 5 years of experience in an enterprise level environment supporting multiple, diverse sites. At least 5 years of experience in design and implementation of networks is required. Cisco VoIP/Collaboration experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities Ability to handle difficult Network Systems Administration tasks. Expert understanding of the OSI networking model. Demonstrated expert knowledge of key protocols such as TCP, IP, UDP, DNS, DHCP, OSPF, MPLS, BGP. Demonstrated experience at working well in fast paced situations and sophisticated environments. Demonstrated in-depth understanding and experience configuring and maintaining networking hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, etc. In-depth knowledge of Microsoft services such as WINS. Professional understanding of Organizational Change and its effects on ensuring business continuity. Demonstrated experience to monitor the network environment using hardware and software tools. Ability to establish and maintain an outstanding level of user trust and confidence. Excellent oral and written communications skills. Outstanding interpersonal and collaboration skills. Demonstrable ability to mentor junior engineers. Bilingual – (English/Spanish) speaker a plus.
Licenses and Certifications Cisco certifications or CCIE preferred.
