Job Description

Fi ncantieri Marinette Marine, a Fincantieri Marine Group Company, is a progressive shipyard specializing in building ships for the United States Navy. We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Production Engineer at our Marinette, Wisconsin location.

POSITION SUMMARY Development of the module and zone breakdown plans, interim product build strategies, and definition of the manufacturing production plan (including the unit erection sequence) for several variants of ships, leading to the awards of new construction contracts Possess extensive modeling and AUTOCAD expertise to be utilized in the defining of the ship construction process, build sequence and related timetables for the construction of different classes of ships and the related shipyard improvements required to meet shipyard future obligations Development and Maintenance of Schedule of Construction (SOC) sequencing for current and proposed programs (LCS, FFG(X), MMSC). Work closely with Engineering and Production Planning and Control to ensure the proper implementation of the product build strategies and coding systems in our models, drawings, schedules and work orders, and data systems Coordinate the collaborative effort with planning and scheduling to build an interim product based project schedule (Integrated Master Schedule), which is consistent with the project Build Strategy, and which will be used by manufacturing, planning, engineering, purchasing, program management Develop manufacturing methods, labor utilization standards, and cost analysis systems to promote efficient ship construction and facility utilization Review productions schedules, engineering specifications, orders and related information and apply that derived information to current manufacturing methods, procedures and activities Recommend methods for improving utilization of personnel, material, and utilities. Ability to train and mentor new entry level engineers to attaining Production Engineer qualifications Coordinate quality control objectives and activities to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, and minimize cost Communicate with management and user personnel to develop production and design standards Must abide by and enforce all organizational policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned. Accepting additional tasks related to the Methods Group, to support every day operations of the shipyard in a safe and effective manner Work closely with other Methods Team members, to stay in tune with other major tasks in progress under the cognizance of other team members, but be ready to assist or take over that task if required Provide and share expertise with other team members, to facilitate all department tasks to ensure success. Must abide by and enforce all organizational policies and procedures.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises 1 to 3 employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Demonstrates leadership skills that align with the mission, vision, and values of the Company.

 
QUALIFICATIONS

  EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology and 6 years of experience of increasing responsibility in the engineering field of competence. This requirement can also be met with an Associate's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology and 8 years of experience of increasing responsibility in the engineering field of competence, or a High School Diploma or GED and 9 years of experience of increasing responsibility in the engineering field of competence. Supervisory experience desired. Six Sigma or LEAN training desired. SKILLS: AUTOCAD and modeling expertise for ship model and grand model breakdown and construction Advanced scheduling techniques and ability to transpose into Excel and other related products Must have a working knowledge of standard shipbuilding rules and regulations, as well as the associated regulatory agencies and the review & approval process. Must possess strong Microsoft Office Suites computer skills. Must have strong organizational and time management skills. Must have the ability to maintain a p rofessional demeanor. Must have effective written and verbal communication skills. Must have ability to maintain confidentiality.
