The Senior Reporting Engineer is responsible for supporting complex reporting and analytics solution for the Society. Specifically, the role requires full life cycle report development from requirements gathering, development, testing and implementation. The individual will also maintain the ongoing reporting inventory, recommend improvements, and manage the requests to a positive conclusion for all constituents.
Report Development (40% of time): Provide strong technology knowledge to develop Society reporting and analytics solutions using a variety of languages and frameworks. Implement reports using the Society’s processes for report analysis, design, development, and testing. Ensure reports are delivered to the constituents with a high-level of quality. Mentor department resources on how to effectively use developed reports. Maintenance of Existing Reports (30% of time): Using the Society’s report improvement and prioritization process, modify reports to meet ongoing continuous improvement needs. Develop and test reporting enhancements, migrate changes to production and update logs as necessary. Perform quality assurance testing to ensure quality deliverables. Relationship Management (15% of time): Identify and analyze reporting needs with department leadership. Develop reporting requirements document and work with contacts for approval. Discuss prioritization needs, level of effort and expected completion time. Documentation (15% of time): Document both departmental requirements and system technology areas in pre-defined format. Ensure documentation stays current with an evolving reporting and analytics code base
5+ years proficiency with report development in MS SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 (SSRS) and newer 5+ years of MS SQL Server database design and development (i.e., stored procedures, views, T-SQL) 3+ years of Power BI experience and/or associated tool sets 3+ years of experience in use of DAX, Power Query and constructing advanced calculations in Power BI Ability to integrate dashboards and reports within MS Azure cloud-based environment Understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling Strong analytical skills for reviewing procedures and processes to develop logical and sustainable solutions to complex technology problems Proven ability to take complex technology solutions and to communicate these ideas to business partners in a simple manner Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with inter-departmental staff, management, vendors, outside agencies, and community groups Development experience with SSIS and SSAS is a plus Experience in Python and R is a huge plus Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Access, Excel, and Power Point Knowledge developing architectural diagrams in Visio, Lucid Chart, Power Point etc. Commitment to the mission, vision, cultural values, and expectations of the National MS Society
Estimated hiring compensation range for this role is $70,000-$89,000 annually. Final offers will be based on candidate geographic location and consider career experience and may vary from this range due to these and other factors.
