Job Description

We're expanding! Swedish Match North America LLC, a manufacturer and marketer of well-known tobacco products, non-tobacco ZYN pouch products, as well as complementary products, is currently seeking a Supervisor Analytical Science  (3rd shift) for the Owensboro, KY facility.






Major Responsibilities Include:



Conduct daily routine benchwork analyses in the laboratory as the major function of this position. Direct day-to-day benchwork activities of Analytical Science personnel to provide optimum efficiency of result generation. Manage laboratory workflow to ensure customers receive results within an agreed upon time frame. Assure compliance with ISO 17025 and ISO 14001 Standard requirements. Perform training and development of Analytical Science personnel to acquire increasing competencies and responsibilities. With Sr Manager, assess and implement manpower assignments for ongoing and future programs. Perform and support development and validation of new analytical and microbiological methods, as directed by Sr Manager. Provide chemical and microbiological analytical support to Product Development, Quality Assurance, Production, Leaf, and Regulatory Affairs Assist Sr Manager in development and implementation of laboratory automation projects. Provide support for Owensboro Analytical Science computer technology and applications. Perform sophisticated analysis and problem-solving input for Product Development, QA, Leaf, Regulatory Affairs, and Production and for product defects (Consumer Complaints, Raw Materials). Perform yearly personnel Personal Effectiveness Plan evaluations with direct reports. Implement laboratory improvement and efficiency projects in coordination with Sr Manager. Interface with customers to ensure expectations are met or exceeded. Interface with Stockholm Laboratory personnel to facilitate laboratory harmonization of methods and procedures. Assume workload for absent personnel as necessary. Ensure follow up with Quality Assurance personnel for consumer complaint and product inquiry samples submitted to OAS.         In absence of Sr Manager, is authorized to make decisions pertaining to the OAS Lab 2nd or 3rd shift respective workflows and workloads. Ability to review, interpret, and report analytical results using LIMS.









 
Education: Bachelor of science degree in scientific discipline chemistry, biology or related field or equivalent experience.

Experience: Minimum five years as an Analytical Chemist, Sr Analytical Chemist or comparable position/experience.

Skill/Knowledge: Proficient in advanced analytical chromatographic methods, instrument troubleshooting and maintenance, chromatographic method development, validation and implementation, information management, and instrument control software, and ISO 17025 and 14001. Specialized knowledge includes experience in the development and validation of advanced chromatographic techniques. The supervisor must have excellent interpersonal skills and experience directing personnel in an analytical laboratory.

Other: Must be able to prepare concise and accurate data summaries. Must have excellent communication skills. Must be able to work 12:00am - 8:30am as well as additional/different shifts if required.
